Black Hair Defined
An interactive digital hair museum aiming to untangle conversations about black hair.
In honor of Black History Month 2020, I worked closely with Art Director, DeAndria Mackey to create a digital hair museum that celebrates the diverse Black hairstyles and the people that rock them. DeAndria shared her wireframes and branding guidelines, and I laid out all of the various visual elements for each of the 18 profiles. This multimedia experience includes interactive animations, videos, gallery click-through, and personalized portraits. We had a tight two week deadline. After launch, Black Hair Defined gained traction and went on to be featured on CBSN. Below is the full interactive site and it’s various multimedia components.
